Wrekin Golf Club is an inclusive Golf Club. We have signed up to the R&A’s Women in Golf Charter to guide us to improve our offering to ladies of all ages and abilities.
The purpose of the Women in Golf Charter is
- To encourage more women and girls to play the game and join clubs
- To inspire more families to enjoy golf as a group leisure activity
- To open up more opportunities for women to work within the golf industry
As part of the Women in Golf Charter, The ladies section of Wrekin Golf club is taking the initiative with its latest campaign in welcoming along potential female members to come and join in the fun.
We are running a Women’s Golf Academy that includes six group lessons for beginners with our Head PGA Professional Jamie Brittain. The Ladies’ Section will provide “golf buddies” to help support new women and girls out onto the golf course. They will provide advice on rules and etiquette and introduce ladies to the clubhouse to enjoy the social side of the game too! Our new campaign is designed to welcome both adults and juniors, whether new or returning to the game; the emphasis is on creating a vibrant social scene, through which we will promote the obvious health benefits that golf brings.
We also think it’s important to highlight the positive benefits the game brings for mental-health wellbeing. We’re looking to create an environment where women and girls of all ages can socialise, make life-long friendships, relax from all the pressures that the world is currently bringing us, and experience the sheer enjoyment to be had from playing golf.”

The Charter Champion for Wrekin Golf Club is Gill Williams who is sure that there are enormous benefits to helping integrate women and girls who are new to the game. It will be a real team effort – with everyone from the Board to the Ladies Section of Wrekin Golf Club having a role to play, ensuring everyone buys into the Women in Golf Charter.
